Remedies To Relieve Menstrual Cramps

The menstrual cycle is a natural phenomenon that consists of the expulsion of an unfertilized egg through bleeding. This process can trigger some symptoms, including cramps.

During the menstrual period, the uterus contracts and this movement causes the lining that forms on its walls to be expelled from the body. 1. Chamomile tea

Chamomile is a medicinal plant with anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. Taking it in an infusion will help reduce pain and inflammation in your body. All you need to do is heat a cup of water for two minutes and then let the tea sit for a while. You can sweeten it with honey or sugar.

2. Ginger infusion

Ginger also has anti-inflammatory properties, so an infusion of this plant is ideal for reducing colic. To prepare it, boil a piece of ginger root in water for 15 minutes. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes, remove the root, and drink the infusion twice a day.

3. Cinnamon

This spice is highly recommended to reduce cramps due to its anti-inflammatory properties. If you want to take advantage of its benefits, you can make an infusion that is also really easy to prepare. All you have to do is boil a couple of cinnamon sticks in three cups of water for 10 minutes. Let the infusion sit for five minutes and then use a strainer to remove the sticks. Drinking three cups spread out throughout the day during your period will help you feel relieved.

4. A hot bath

Taking a warm bath will help you relax and reduce inflammation in your abdominal area.

5. Thermal bag

Applying heat to the abdominal area, thanks to a thermal bag, can be very effective. They come in different sizes and materials such as rubber or fabric, and can be found in any pharmacy. To use them, fill them with boiling water and seal them tightly before placing them on the abdominal area. The heat will reduce muscle spasms and pain in a short time.

6. Over-the-counter pain relievers

There are several products on the market designed to reduce the pain caused by colic. However, you can also take other pills designed to eliminate this symptom, for example containing ibuprofen or acetaminophen. Of course, this is something you should discuss with your doctor.

Finally, remember that there are also practices that will help you not only to eliminate colic but even better: to prevent it. Exercising regularly and having a balanced diet, in which you avoid the intake of excess sugar and fat while paying special attention to the consumption of necessary vitamins and minerals, is key.
