7 Benefits Of Going To A Spa And Sauna To Reduce Stress

In an increasingly hectic, hurried, and demanding world, taking time to disconnect and relax becomes a necessity. Our body and mind need a space of tranquility to avoid becoming overloaded; in this context, relaxation centers or spas emerge as a place of well-being, where the body and mind can find the long-awaited rest and regain balance.

Initially, these places were thought to be aesthetic centers, focused on beauty. However, immersing yourself in these atmospheres of tranquility becomes a revitalizing experience, offering a restorative break amid the daily hustle and bustle.

The experiences in a proper spa go beyond massages, multiple activities can relieve the stress and anxiety that surrounds us due to the daily life in which we live.

Keli Stuber Figueroa, CEO of Le Suisse Spa, says that many of the relaxation centers are personalized since they focus on the needs of each individual. She believes that incorporating visits to the spa into your routine should be conceived more as a treatment focused on health and not so much as an aesthetic luxury.

Stuber explains, for example, that one of the effective actions to reduce stress is thermal circuits (sauna and spa) with different temperatures combined with specific massage therapies that are chosen according to personal needs.

Benefits of going to the spa

There are many benefits to attending relaxation centers, both physical and mental. Among the most notable are:

  1. Relaxation and release of tension and stress.
  2. Releases dopamine, regulating blood pressure and blood circulation.
  3. Helps improve respiratory system conditions.
  4. Stimulates the lymphatic system.
  5. Improves the appearance of the skin and scalp.
  6. Improves sleep quality.
  7. In the case of saunas, depending on which one you choose, they can reduce pain.

The healing art of massage

By manipulating the superficial and deep layers of the body through a massage, the muscles are activated and bodily functions are improved, helping in the circulation processes and activating the immune system, in addition to promoting relaxation and well-being of the body.

Stuber says massages relieve muscle stress, not to mention that they boost circulation and are beneficial for people recovering from injuries.

Types of Saunas

Hydrotherapy is a healing method using water recommended by Stuber. The combination of this therapy with a steam bath at high temperatures promotes relaxation and blood circulation, stimulates the immune system, and reduces stress and anxiety.

Among the types of saunas we can find are:

Obsidian stones strengthen the digestive system and reduce muscle cramps. Using these stones helps improve energy, providing vitality to the body.

The quartz sauna, on the other hand, is used to combat stress and fatigue. According to Stuber, it provides serenity, peace, and calm, helping to clear the mind and achieve balance and harmony.

There is also the Himalayan salt sauna, which allows for a purifying action on the respiratory tract, helps with insomnia problems, reduces stress and fatigue, eliminates impurities from the skin, and strengthens the immune system.

Stuber recommends visiting the spa at least once a month. This, along with a combination of exercise and good nutrition, will be your ideal allies for complete health.
